Today, I share a conversation I had with Kotrish Wright, MSW centered on PERFECTIONISM. She shares 5 strategies we can use to move past procrastination, and subsequently past those debilitating thoughts that swirl around in our heads. It can be viewed on YouTube or listened to on SoundCloud or via Buzzsprout until March 2021. I hope this brief discussion helps us all to become healthier versions of ourselves.
Exactly! Maybe some strategies work for others but we need to find the one that fits us. Great post!

Thank you TC! This is one of this most poignant messages she provided. A lot of times we read/watch things and think we have to do EXACTLY what someone else suggested. This is not true.

Nice segment! How wonderful to still be in touch with a former student and to see her so successful and making a positive difference in the world. I personally cannot relate to perfectionism, as I have never worried about being perfect, but I see this in a lot of my students.

Thanks Kim and thank you for tuning in. These are the types of relationships I used to create with my former students, especially while teaching high school.
I hope that what Kotrish has said here will be helpful for your current students who live with this.

Great video, it’s so true that wanting things to be perfect can stop us from starting at all. I’m also interested to learn more about the damage that can be done by praise, wondering if I do this for my daughter too much.
Thanks Kathy and Kotrish!

Another great interview! Thank you Dr. G. For both introducing us to Kotrish and for the down to earth strategies shared for perfectionism. “Worst case scenario” is the strategy that stood out for me. So important to realize that the actual, real life consequences, often does not match real life. Loving this series. Especially have you converge so many media forms. Have a wonderful weekend! Thanks Dr. D! I’m kind of excited to be communicating across so many platforms. There is a bit of a learning curve, but I’ll get there. Happy to have you aboard for this project. I know our convo is going to be just as powerful ❤

Loved it! I needed Kotrish’s wisdom today. “Know thyself.” And have grace for what we can and cannot accomplish. So good. A while back I did a video on how perfectionism can be a form of bullying ourselves. We can’t hate ourselves into being. Only love can do that. Thanks for sharing this.

Yes. My video is on Kathy’s blog and my blog here: https://borninprovidence.com/2020/05/22/mental-health-matters-escapism-with-elizabeth-fitzgerald-lpc/
I’ve tried finding Kathy’s YouTube channel outside of WordPress but my technical skills are pretty sad. Maybe Kathy can help us?

Thanks E! Kotrish (like you) is amazingly helpful and intuitive when it comes to this work. Where is your perfectionism as bullying video??? I need to link it to this post.
And yes to love being the way ❤

Really enjoyed the conversation. Thanks so much for sharing. Encouraging to hear described, adults reaching goals at different speeds – ‘Know thyself’. So valuable when encouraging our young folk as they mature. And us older folk. We’re all different & valuable.

Absolutely! Thanks for tuning in and commenting. I think we sometimes forget that just because you’re an “adult’ doesn’t mean you don’t need good sound advice. A lot of us don’t have things figured out.

Right, making things manageable is a good approach, and so is being kinder to ourselves. Hi Kathy. Bye till next time!
