Patty, this is challenging for sure. What I’ve found helps me is knowing that I’m the only one responsible for me; therefore, doing best for me is always the best route.
I teach Sunday school and we were just talking about the importance of saying “yes” and saying “no” today and meaning it – not trying to please others. These were 4th graders so it was about doing what feels right and not going along with the crowd.
Yes. I got it. I think when it’s a general statement, then yep. But I think that person said something specific about pleasing others…either way, I get/got what you were saying.
Thanks Judy! One of the most fun parts of this was coming up with images aligned with each person. Anywho, yes…I agree. Another friend had mentioned that “saying yes” is also a form of self-love, so I think Tarra summed this up nicely.
I love this!!! The heart image is beautiful – absolutely exquisite. And how profound that freedom is mentioned and the ability to say both yes and no goes with that!
We get to choose how we want to feel and see the world. What Tarra recommends leads to pure happiness. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, setting those standards and boundaries! ππ½

Absolutely! It’s hard, but it has to be done.

…even when it’s not best for someone else… That’s still an ongoing process for me, finding the right balance.
Beautiful addition again π

I’m so happy to hear this. The earlier we can teach people this concept, the more free we’ll all be.

Yeah true, they were being specific about people pleasing and I agree, that calls for a NO (sometimes easier said than done, in my own life *sigh*)
