So cute! My friend in Maine had two ducklings a few years ago, Garlic and Dill. They used to follow her everywhere. They passed on this spring, now she has two new ones, Splish and Splash. Great photo. 🙂
She lives in the Maine wilderness… she had the first set of ducks for three years, wintering them over at a friend’s farm. They were very friendly and everybody in town knew them. This summer, they started wandering off her property… miles, sometimes. They were attacked in the woods–by coyotes, she thinks. Very sad, but nature is what it is. 😦
Oh they are so precious and how lucky for you to be able to experience them hatching first hand.

Yes and no. The mama duck made a nest at my neighbors’ and I’d been waiting about a month for them to hatch! It was a very cool experience.

Oh dear. I can’t imagine! Do ducks have a brief lifespan??? I have to go Google it.

Aha! That makes me feel somewhat better. That’s just nature doing what nature does.
